Ocean Alpha Dolphin 1 is a smart, buoyant, unmanned USRV is a life-saving device. It is designed to support water rescuers, marinas and offshore oil and gas platforms. The USRV can be operated in all types of water environments and can be used to augment or replace personal flotation devices and other water vehicles such as jet skis or small craft during water SAR operations. The Dolphin has a range of 500m and can travel at a speed of almost 10 miles/hour to reach a person in distress.
Besides that the rescue device has high penetration fog lights located near the front top. Thus, it provides increased visibility in fog and at night.

Coming to its working, the idea derived from the drones. So, Ocean Alpha comes up with remote controlled, unmanned USRV to rescue and save lives in the water. This unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) operate via remote control in all types of water and position different sensors in three dimensional spaces to gather data or transport people or equipment while remaining buoyant.
Well, the motorized lifebuoy is powered on in the water using a handheld remote and directed to where it’s needed. Wireless operation range is reported to be up to 500 m (1,640 ft), and if the rescue craft is overturned by choppy waves. Therefore, the remote operator can easily flip it back over from afar.
The rescue boat is made of bright orange plastic, besides that it has bumper to minimize the accidental impact injury. On the other hand, this device has two fog lights in case of poor visibility. Each of the two propellers is enclosed in metal casing to shield them from the flailing arms of victims, and to make sure they don’t get tangled up with debris or trailing plants.
While, talking about the speed and battery life, as they are most important feature for the rescue device. It has max speed of 15 km/h (9.3 mph) and battery life per charge is 30 minutes. It’s designed to be big enough so that an exhausted swimmer can lay on it like a body board. Besides that it can grab hold of the ropes around the edge or the carry handles at the nose and be brought safely back to shore. Well, the remote-controlled lifebuoy tips the scales at 13 kg (28 lb) and could also transport a lifeguard who is in trouble and keep them both afloat until a rescue boat arrives.
